Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT)
- This page provides information about the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission. This mission, led by NASA and Frances' space agency (CNES) with contributions from the CSA and the UK Space Agency, provides new and detailed information on one of the most important resources we share – water. This information should help participants better understand how satellites can be used to observe surface water on Earth.
RADARSAT Constellation Mission
- RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM) is a constellation of three Canadian satellites that use a technology called synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to capture images of the Earth's surface. It has been active since 2019. SAR can be used to monitor changes brought on by wildfires, such as deforestation. Data from this mission is used in fire responses across Canada. As these satellites are still active, this dataset is continually being updated with new images. The data is available through the Earth Observation Data Management System (EODMS), linked here: https://www.eodms-sgdot.nrcan-rncan.gc.ca/index-en.html.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) Open Data Portal
- Environment and Climate Change Canada has various datasets on water quality (including the release of harmful substances in bodies of water), as well as air quality and biodiversity. This platform can be used for ecological conversation studies.
