Real-World Challenges

The NASA Space Apps Challenge provides the opportunity to engage directly with NASA’s data, along with Space Agency Partner data. During the hackathon, teams use this data to address challenges written by NASA Subject Matter Experts, featuring topics including storytelling, software development, astrophysics, space exploration, agriculture, and more.

“It is astounding to see what is possible when people come together to address the challenges we face in our endeavor to learn more about life on Earth,” said NASA Earth Science Division Director, Dr. Karen St. Germain.

Meet like-minded individuals

When you participate in NASA Space Apps, you join a global community that shares a desire to learn and an interest in exploring our planet and universe through science and technology.

“A team, initially uncertain about their abilities, pulled together through late night brainstorming and intense coding sessions to develop an innovative project for a real-world challenge. The pride and excitement they showed during their presentation underscored the power of collaboration and resilience in tackling complex problems.” - Obour, Egypt Local Lead

2025 NASA Space Apps Challenge Global Winners

Each year, thousands of teams submit projects that demonstrate collaboration, creativity, and address challenges we face on Earth and in space using NASA data. These projects undergo multiple rounds of judging to determine the 10 Global Winners, representing the most innovative projects submitted by participants.
